Karate Day Events 2019

The Next Couple of blogs i'm doing have a bit of overlap, for example- My five year anniversary in Okinawa is the same weekend as the Karate day Events. However, I've decided to do separate blogs because theres lots of pictures and was a lot going on in those few weeks. I'm sure you dont need another one as long a the kid's summer camp review blog was!

On Friday 25th october - Karate no hi- James held his 100 kata challenge in Matsuyama Park in Naha- Just opposite the Chinese Gardens- Fukushu-En.

We had almost all of the Asato Dojo kids members come to join it- and Martin, Michael and Joel came by to help out and participate in a few kata.

The kids all did a good job- all the groups made it over halfway- but we only had 1 hour and 15 minutes from when they started to before it was getting dark and the Adults were waiting to start their kata.

So- the kids finished in Matsuyama Park and did the rest of their kata the next day in the dojo.
Chris did such a good job again of getting some really wonderful pictures of the Kids from the Dojo.
here is the Link to his original blog post-

On Sunday the 27th December the Kokusai Dori demonstrations were held to celebrate karate day.
It was grey and a little drizzly but we all just about managed to stay dry.
From all the Matsubayashi Ryu  dojo in Okinawa and foreigners visiting there was maybe 50- 60 people all together.
Kids was maybe 25-30 and same for adults. The kid's kata was Fukyugata ichi and Pinan Shodan- Adults did Wankan and Wanshu.

All the kids did a really good job at waiting - As always on these kinds of days there was a lot of waiting around.
I think it was a good experience for the kids because they got to see lots of other karate kids, lots of other karate styles and lots of other people within our organisation.
Now the kids' can relax a little and so can I. Its nerve racking when all the senpai and sensei are there to watch what I've been teaching the kids considering i am so inexperienced myself.
